Dr.
A. H. Barbee founded Messenger Ministries in 1975, within the context
of a pastorate. He has more than 30 years' experience as pastor, conference
speaker, media minister, educator, consultant and author. He earned
his Ph.D. in Human Resource Development, with original research on church
governance design and pastoral relations from the Graduate School of
The Union Institute & University, Cincinnati, Ohio. His wife earned
bachelor's and master's degrees in music. The Barbees have two daughters
who teach in Christian day schools and a son, who is an attorney
Dr. Barbee has
delivered more than 3000 addresses as pastor or guest speaker at conferences,
churches, colleges, seminaries in 85 U.S. cities and several foreign
countries, delivered more than 2600 biblical commentaries on 135 radio
stations in 40 states, written and published 100 articles and 35 books
and booklets for both scholarly and public audiences.
Dr. Barbee taught
interdisciplinary studies in music, religious studies, public speaking,
writing, human resources management, organizational behavior and business
ethics in undergraduate and graduate programs at seven institutions.
He serves as adjunct professor for doctoral candidates pursuing interdisciplinary
Ph.D. programs, with concentrations in Pastoral Theology, Pastoral Counseling,
Religion and Psychology and Humanities.
Dr. Barbee has
been consultant for team-building, management and conflict resolution
for churches and organizations in the religious nonprofit sector and
for small businesses and corporations. His foreign travels for business,
ministry and humanitarian service have taken him to Belarus, England,
Egypt, Greece, Israel, Italy Jamaica, Jordan, Russia, Switzerland
and Ukraine.
His concern for
professionals in ministry, especially those associated with local churches,
is expressed in his book It Shouldn't Hurt So Much To Be A Pastor.
